Review: E.L.F. Custom Eyes eyeshadows in Ivory, Sage, Moondust, & Mocha

I never thought about giving these eye shadows a try before. I've only recently been loving eye shadows as much as I love my other types of makeup.
1st column from top to bottom: Ivory, Sage
2nd column from top to bottom: Mocha, Moondust
Above: As you can see from mocha and moondust, you can see how powdery the shadows are.
Left to right: Moondust, Sage, Mocha, Ivory

Overall, I have a love-hate relationship with these eye shadows. My favorite shade is Ivory because I found it to be the most pigmented. The eye shadows are pretty powdery but when I apply them on my lids, they don't have much fall-out because I always wear a primer prior to applying eye shadow. Sage is my least favorite because it is the least pigmented; It barely showed when I swatched it on my skin.

Have you ladies tried these eye shadows?

Review: Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom

The lip balm comes inside of this cute packaging.
No Animal Testing
I love this tinted lip balm. It is definitely moisturizing. Most of the tinted lip balms that I've tried tend to dry up my lips within an hour but this one doesn't. After 3 hours, I noticed my lips were still moisturized. It is not sticky at all. I can't explain the scent but I love how it smells! I've never smelled pink blossoms before so I'm not sure if that's what I'm smelling in this lip balm. As for the color, it's not very pigmented, which is what I expected since it's just a tinted lip balm. It just gives a nice sheer of medium pink to my lips.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail polish strips in Glitz Blitz

This was my first time trying nail polish strips and I have to say that I am not very good at it. I did not put them on well and I chipped mine on the first day because parts of the strips were already standing, ready to peel off. There are extra nail polish strips in the box (the box has 16 strips) which allows me to replace the chipped strips on my nails. The best thing about these is that they do not feel gritty like regular glitter nail polishes because of course, they're nail stickers.

Nyx Slide-on Pencils Review & Swatches

Shades from top to bottom: Azure, Green Papaya, and Pink Suede
These eye pencils glide on so smooth that they don't tug on your eyes. I've heard and read so many people comparing these to the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils.

Nyx: Rouge cream blush in Natural

Small swatch

I really like this blush. It blends so easily. The name really matches this shade. It gives such a nice natural flush to my skin.
Have you ladies tried their cream blushes?

November 2011 Favorites

~Clinique acne solutions oil free clearing moisturizer- I always talk about the Clinique acne solutions line. This moisturizer really helps prevent my occasional pimples from getting any bigger or popping up. I'm running out and need to get a new bottle a.s.a.p.

~Degree Body mist in Classic Romance- I've mentioned this stuff a few times here on my blog. I ran out of all my body sprays and I decided to repurchase this one! For a description of the scent and to see the other body mists I've been loving, click here!
~Physicians Formula Healthy wear powder foundation in translucent light- This has spf 50. I love using this when I have no time to wear makeup. It evens out my skin tone, covering the redness I have on my face. Since I got the translucent shade, it just gives light to light-medium coverage. I will definitely try out another shade after I run out of this one
When it was new
It comes with a pink sponge
I use the sponge when I need more coverage. For lighter coverage, I use a face brush.
~NYC smooth skin bronzing face powder in Sunny- Thank you Eileen aka The Sneakerette for this bronzer! We did a swap and I asked if she could add this and she was so kind to add it for me. She looked everywhere and couldn't find it at first but she eventually did, so I can't thank her enough for searching for this. This is the only bronzer that I've tried that doesn't make me look muddy/dirty. It's light enough for my skin tone and I love it so much.
Left to right: Physicians formula in Translucent light, NYC Sunny bronzer
~Milani powder blush in Pink Craze- I did an individual blog post about this blush here.
Left to right: Physicians formula translucent light powder foundation, NYC Sunny bronzer, Milani Pink Craze powder blush
~Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro nail lacquer in Steel Grey- This is such a gorgeous shade. I've been wearing it for two weeks now. I usually change my nail color every week. It's a lovely purple-gray color.

Guest Blogger: "Beauty from Liz" with ombre nails

Who is she? Liz from Beauty from Liz
    1) How and why did you start blogging?
I had been interested in beauty world for a few years. I started out watching beauty videos on youtube. Blogging seemed more like "my thing" because I have alwyas liked taking photos and writing short stories. Beauty just seemes to be a field that in my country, Estonia is not widely published trough internet so I just grabbed the opportunity. Blogging gives mw opportunity to try out different products on my own skin, because everyone is different in skin color, texture and so on.

    2) What is the focus of your blog?
Mostly I do product reviews, mainly decorative cosmetics and nail polishes.

    3) What is your favorite makeup brand & why?
I don't have one favorite brand, because I have not tried out a whole bunch of products yet. Definitely it is something from drugstore, because I am a student and my budget is limited. My most expensive product so far has been Urban Decay Naked palette and I really love it.

    4) What is your favorite clothing brand & why?
I don't have favorite clothing brand. I think that I would love forever 21 if it was available in Estonia. For every day I wear jeans and cardigan or smth so I am not that into fashion.

    5) If you were allowed to bring only one beauty product with you, what would it be & why?
Mascara! Mascara and under eye concealer are only beauty products I use on daily basis, so that explains something I think.

    6) Do you have any favorite beauty or fashion blogs you recommend?
First international big blogs that I started to read were Vampy varnish and Makeup and beautyblog - really professional bloggers, who still manage to but a bit of their essence into their blog.

Very good Estonian blogs are: G-reveals (but she writes only in Estonian, better look at her youtube videos which are in English) and Miss L nail blog (she writes products reviews too :) )
Definitely there are a ton of good blogs, so you just have to keep your eyes open.

    7) What is a tip you would like to share with incoming beauty or fashion bloggers?
Take your own product photos, always be honest and don´t write your blog address as comment everywhere. Most importantly, blog for yourself - it does not really matter how many followers you have or how many views you get. If you are good, you will be noticed in time. :)

Now for my blog post, I decided to show you my interpretation of ombre nails. I used different grey tones and added glitter polish to my accent nail.
    What is ombre nails?
Basically it is color gradient on your finger nails. You can do it like I did- every nail is slightly different shade of the same color. Or you can do the gradient on each separate nail - using sponge or just melting colors together.

    Used products:

    1. Apply your regular base coat.
    2. Pick out one color for main color, also you have to have black and white nail polish. Yes, you don´t have to own a ton of different polishes to do ombre nails.
    3. Start mixing your polish.
    a) thumb: main color + white
    b) index: main color
    c) main color + few drops of black
    d) index finger as accent nail: I chose silver polish + silver glitter
    e) main color + a little bit more black.
I used an ampty nail wheel as mixing palette- upside down the nails are like small bowls.
I used 2 coats of nail polish.
    4. Add a top coat and you are done!
So as you can see, it is easy to do and I think that the effect is quite cool.
    Thank you for reading!
